Rumor has it that if a hospital has 200 beds but not enough staff to cover all the beds then not all beds will be used for patients. If a hospital fires half the staff, they then have to reduce the number of beds that can be used. So when (fake) news outlets tell you a hospital is “at capacity” or “has run out of beds”, keep in mind that this doesn’t mean there are hundreds of patients needing seen.
